Wednesday 20th April 2022

13:20 Arrival of the delegation to Brnik Airport, from Frankfurt

·        Welcome at Brnik Arrivals, to LEX Estonia Slovenia 2022, hosted by HealthDay.si; group photo 📷

·        Luggage will be equipped with labels, and unloaded at the hotel;

·        Participants will proceed to hospitals;

·        Antigen self-test for Covid-19 conducted on the bus;

·        Return to hotel Lev will be late, so meal in Frankfurt Airport is recommended;

·        Some snack and drink will be provided on the bus, but you can also bring what you prefer (no lunch planned).

 


Group A – Oncology Institute

Led by Rebeka Žerovnik of HealthDay.si

14:30 Oncology Institute Ljubljana, the leading oncology hospital in the EU, Slovenia has a strong National Program for Cancer Control, one of the oldest cancer registries in the world from 1950s, 3 cancer screening programs. Hosted by Mrs Andreja Uštar, CEO, and Dr Irena Oblak, Medical Director. About 25 delegates are expected.

·        Welcome, gathering in the main conference room, building C

·        Introduction to Oncology Institute by Andreja Uštar, CEO

·        Presentation of PERH Tallinn, by Terje Peetso, Member of the Management Board

 

After ~30 minutes

 

·        group splits into subgroups and follows to see:

o    Radiotherapy, with Irena Oblak

o    Registry of Cancer, with Vesna Zadnik

o    Genetics in Oncology, with Mateja Krajc

o    Research and Education, with Maja Čemažar

 

The subgroups will rotate, so that each delegate will be able to see every specialty. 30-minute rotations are recommended.

 

After 120 minutes, at ~17:00

 

·        Subgroups reconvene in the main conference room, group photo 📷

·        Bilateral talks with invited specialists from Oncology Institute as asked for by the delegates in their survey

 

Visit and talks are estimated to end ~18:00. The group will be able to either walk through the city centre to hotel Lev, guided by HealthDay.si, 30-minute walk, or hail taxis.

 

Group B – Novo mesto general hospital

Led by Gregor Cuzak, of HealthDay.si

15:30 General hospital Novo mesto, a medium size regional hospital, going through reorganisation, led by CEO Dr Milena Kramar Zupan, also a top lecturer of management in health, joined by Dr Boštjan Kersnič, Medical Director, and others, about 20 delegates are expected.

·        Welcome, gathering in the main conference room, management building

·        Introduction to General Hospital Novo mesto by Milena Kramar Zupan, CEO

·        Presentation of PERH Tallinn, Agris Peedu CEO

 

After ~30 minutes

 

·        group splits into subgroups and follows to see:

o    Surgery and pediatrics ward, with Boštjan Kersnič

o    Orthopedics and physiotherapy, with Gregor Kavčič

o    Intensive care and ?

 

The subgroups will rotate, so that each delegate will be able to see every specialty. 30-minute rotations are recommended.

 

·        In parallel: discussion about change management and projects with Milena Kramar Zupan and Ljubinka Počrvina, about the Ups and Downs of Managing a Regional Hospital in Times of Change

 

After 90 minutes, at ~17:30

·        Bilateral talks with invited specialists from SB NM as asked for by the delegates in their survey

 

Group B drives to Hotel Lev, via bus, leave Novo mesto at ~18:00, ~50mins drive.

Group A - Topolšica

Led by Mojca Cvirn of HealthDay.si, goes with another bus

10:00 Topolšica Hospital - conversation with the hospital management, dr. Jurij Šorli, Marko Oberstar, and others at the suggestion of Topolšica, the story of the digital transformation of the small hospital, which five years ago was considered one of the worst, is now considered the digital champion. We expect about 15 delegates.

·    Welcome, gathering in the main conference room

·    Introduction to Hospital Topolšica by Jurij Šorli, CEO

·    Presentation of PERH Tallinn, Terje Peetso, Member of the Management Board

 

 After ~30 minutes

 

·    Group visits the small hospital, for about 30 minutes, led by Jurij Šorli

 

At ~11:00

 

·    Groups returns to the main conference room, maybe splits into seperate rooms, to enable more focused discussions on the following topics:

 

o   Hospital management - with the department heads and head nurses, with Jana Makuc, medical director, Darja Kramar, nursing, Franci Lenart, president of hospital council

o   Digitalisation, step-by-step from paper to digital champions, Marko Oberstar and representative of SRC Infonet, health information system provider

Group B - Maribor

Led by Rebeka Žerovnik of HealthDay.si, stays on same bus

10:00 University Medical Centre Maribor (UKC Maribor), 1300 beds, 3000+ staff, university Clinic, adjoined by the Medical Faculty, hosted by Dr Anton Crnjac, CEO and Dr Nataša Marčun Varda, Medical Director. About 30 delegates are expected.

·    Delegates go to the main auditorium room of UKC Maribor, welcome by the board of the hospital
